Integrations / Odoo Manufacturing scope assessment
Turn Odoo manufacturing records into clearer job answers.
Explore how orders, operations, inventory, and purchasing could support one operational view. We review your version, hosting, access rights, and workflow before defining the connection.
Establish version, hosting, and access entitlement
Begin with the installed Odoo version, edition, hosting arrangement, commercial plan where relevant, and administrator-approved external access. Record custom modules and changes to manufacturing flows. Two deployments with similar screens can expose different records or permissions.
Confirm the proposed interface against documentation for the installed release and your actual access entitlement. Ask the administrator who owns API access, network controls, and technical identities. Testing must establish both connection behavior and the manufacturing meaning of the returned records. Version, plan, and hosting constraints need to be resolved for the selected access route.
Map orders, operations, and material movements
The data review should identify manufacturing orders, work orders where used, routing steps, bills of materials, stock movements, reservations, and purchasing dependencies. For each, establish the identifier, state definition, quantity unit, and update timestamp. Determine how partial production, scrap, and rework are represented in your configuration.
Illustrative scenario: manufacturing order MO-6208 needs a purchased component before assembly. A proposed answer would compare its requirement with usable stock, reservations, and the expected receipt. It would distinguish a receipt expectation from stock released for use. These are mapping requirements for a test workflow, not confirmed model names, tested endpoints, or evidence of a live integration.
| Record concept | Question to resolve |
|---|---|
| Manufacturing order | Which date and quantity define the current commitment? |
| Work order | How are partial completion and holds represented? |
| Stock and reservations | What is usable and allocated to this order? |
| Purchase dependency | Which receipt date has been confirmed? |
Choose an update path with visible freshness
Determine whether the approved route supplies scheduled reads, an export, or an event-based update. Measure its behavior during testing before describing the result as live. The operational answer should show the source event time when available and the most recent successful retrieval. Missing timestamps need an explicit limitation.
Include canceled orders, backorders, revised bills of materials, and stock transfers in the validation set. Check whether a user’s record restrictions carry through the proposed access. A stale reservation snapshot can reverse an apparent material answer, so define when the buyer or planner should confirm availability directly in the source system.
Treat recommendations and writes as different scope
A read-only assessment can focus on an order-risk or shortage question. A proposed purchasing, scheduling, or stock update requires a separate list of fields, permissions, reviewers, and acceptance criteria. Agree on how a proposal is invalidated if the order changes before approval.
For a useful scope conversation, bring the installed version, hosting and plan details, custom manufacturing modules, one example order, and the person responsible for access. The next step is to test the selected access path and representative records. Agree on the limitations, acceptance criteria, and review owner before using the workflow for operational decisions.
